James Murphy served as inspiration? f**kin Killer D/ . .
I called an early quits for the day, and proceeded in scrawling 2 pages of notes for "Black March". I shall let these ideas ferment a bit before I return. All I gotta say for now? This is one wicked track!! lml lml

Shadows from past have darkened all I see Living out of mind, this dark cloud follows me
Well, it seems the narrator had some experience that has tainted his view on everything that he now sees. With the lyrics from the latter half of the song, this seems to me to be some horrible leader who has given the narrator a pessimistic view of what any new leader may bring.
No one sees me here, vision and sight impaired Will they see me here, the darkness may never clear
Well, based on the first two lines, I would think that it should be the narrator with the vision impairment due to his depression, not everyone else. However, there are several possibilities I see. 1) It could be that what other people see isn't the narrator's TRUE self, due to his depression, which is why their vision is "impaired", or 2) The world has tainted their view and causes them to view things in a weird way. For instance, during the 1950s, in the McCarthy era, if one was blacklisted for being suspected of being a communist, everyone in their community would look at them differently, even if they were not communists. Vision impairment due to the social structure.
Light, rules the night
To be honest, I have no idea what this means. I would assume the light is the true self, but if he is depressed then it shouldn't be ruling the night (depression), but controlled by it.
The black enters me as depression rules life No way to stop the anger societies brought to life With every bit of effort with every breath we breathe We fight off all the darkness just so we can see
Life doesn't necessarily cause depression, but the way society and people function and act can lead to quite a f**ked up view of the world! Hell, I'm sure if society was better we wouldn't have quite as many kickass Sadus tunes to rock out to. And most of Death's later material wouldn't have been written the same because people wouldn't have been such inconsiderate, greedy, conniving assholes. We hold ourselves above water because all we feel around us (and to some extent, what we contribute) is selfish, crappy energy.
Hate, rules life No way to stop the anger societies brought to life Pain, pay the price No rule to guide me now, I’ll do what I like Subdued, oppressions met Cage me from within, a holding till death
As the world is so bad, we can do nothing more than hate it, because that is what it spawns from us. And as we are poked and prodded by life, regardless of what we do, the narrator suggests that we might as well do what we want (I don't necessarily agree, depending on what the narrator suggests we do). But society does try to bind us, keep us acting how they wish us to act. Makes me think of the work, eat, sleep, work, eat, sleep ritual. There should be more of a point than that. After all, why are we to live if we aren't living for something? And surely those three things are not the most we can come by in this world.
March
A call to arms! Fight against the structure of society!
Bored enough to kill Stuck in this madness Can’t relate to life Swallowed in shadows
Monotonous droning of life's endless machine, we churn through our days while hating all we see.
Stray upon the fools Smart enough to catch it This fool's about to rule Caught up in this madness
I'm not quite sure about this one. Though I'm fairly sure it deals with someone completely unqualified coming to power because no one else is smart enough to see through their charade. (Perhaps Joa has some time-period related stuff. What was happening in the mid-90s that this could reference?)
Black march
Either this is just a continuation of the call to arms, or this is a reference to the fools that are aimlessly following a completely unqualified leader.
As I’m passing through you Impact will begin No mercy by me Black march my destiny Shadows they will fall, I live eternity Light, rules the night
I'm not sure about the line "passing through you", but obvious the narrator is announcing that he will destroy this veil of illusion that is draped over the leader and remove the spell that the masses are under. It now makes more sense about light ruling the night. Rather than the night being depression, it is the veil, while the narrator is the unswayed citizen who will uncover everything. It also seems that the black march is not the ignorant following, but the call to arms I mentioned before.
As I walk through the grey of today I listen to the rain, thought washed away Time stands still as you walk away What used to be my equal now you are my prey
Again, not entirely sure. It could be that this ignorant leader is someone that the narrator used to know, or that a friend of the narrator aspires to become like the leader which no one would follow. Ultimately, the narrator can't be friends with someone who is so interested in being fake and conniving.
Is that the idea of it? Who knows?

Awesome track! I'm gonna run with this, the NES_F Valley Brutha way lml lml Thanks again for getting the lyrics thread goin and for all your contributions in keeping this endeavor moving~ Killer work man!Shadows from past have darkened all I see Living out of mind, this dark cloud follows me No one sees me here, vision and sight impaired Will they see me here, the darkness may never clear Closed off from society. Scars from the past cause us to close or narrow our focus as we try to see through the infinite "black".Light, rules the night
The black enters me as depression rules life No way to stop the anger societies brought to life With every bit of effort with every breath we breathe We fight off all the darkness just so we can see
Light and rule the night All the while, opportunity is all around you. But how? Where are the keys that will release me from my incarceration? Ever lost hope? There is a gradual denigration into the depths of misery as anger, depression, frustration, sorrow envelopes you.Hate, rules life No way to stop the anger societies brought to life Pain, pay the price No rule to guide me now, I’ll do what I like Subdued, oppressions met Cage me from within, a holding till death As if the narrator is saying my anger is focused at myself, at you, at society for this f**king maze constructed by the dominant, the corporation; the government. Survival is it's ultimate demise. No more. No less. March
Board enough to kill Stuck in this madness Can’t relate to life Swallowed in shadows Nothing is shocking. March
Stray upon the fools Smart enough to catch it This fools about to rule Caught up in this madness
Black march
As I’m passing through you Impact will begin No mercy by me Black march my destiny Shadows they will fall, I live eternity Light, rules the night There is this day to day mechanical/systemic grinding away of the physical, the spiritual in ourselves in order to survive, to live, to hope? Through this there exists a perception of hope. To reach out and unlock this door to the paradox of our own reality. Hate, rules life No way to stop the anger societies brought to life Pain, pay the price No rule to guide me now, I’ll do what I like Subdued, oppressions met Cage me from within, a holding till death
March
As I walk through the grey of today I listen to the rain, thought washed away Time stands still as you walk away What used to be my equal now you are my preyThere are so many ways to go with this segment! Rain serves as an allegory where if you close your eyes, you can almost visualize the palpable cooling of the air; the cleansing as if the rain has washed away death, darkness, or the malevolence of one's "equal". On the surface, those thoughts and memories may be distant, but their impact leaves the wounds open long after the first strike. Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer. Great lyrics D/, SDG. Would be awesome to hear this track played "Live" some day. Thanks again for posting them in "The Valley Of SADUS People".

If you want to feel like something unreal is going on, let's have the Sadudes play some Spice Girls' song...you won't even know what the hell is going on!
Nice one Joa...can you think of any time period information that might relate to this?

"Black March" was on the Red Demo from 1994, so what else could be about but the legendary, the quintessential 1994 movie: ;D No worries! There this Futurist Author I've been reading so this could get Star Trekky in a hurry . . . .I'll get serious after the holidaze!

Ok... 1994, back then there's been of the most brutal and cruel massacres of all times in Rwanda. I don't know if this inspired guys in any way, but reading the lyrics and knowing when they were written made me immidiatly think about this sad, intollerable page of human history.

Best Sadus album and probably the most under appreciated, I myself thought it was one of the lesser albums, but it grows on you the more you listen to it. And is now my favourite.
