Okay, this is something I've been wanting to do for a while, as I have found that I enjoy the lyrical phrasing of many of the Sadus songs. I don't know if it's any different for the other Sadus CDs, but Elements of Anger cited the song credits as simply being by Sadus. Does anyone know if any of the Sadudes inparticular write the lyrics, if they trade off on writing different songs, or if they all sit in a circle and work on it as they go all the time?
I figured I would start with the first studio album (though I haven't heard it) and simply wish to provide my interpretation of each song based on the title and lyrics. Of course, if you have another view, I'd love to hear it.
I figure I'll start out with my general idea of the songs and then break down the lyrics to illustrate separate points.

Certain Death
Boy, this guy is dying...really bad. But why is that? It sounds like he could have been assaulted. There's a few reasons I think that.
Loss of vision Brain contusion
A contusion is a bruise. So somehow he received a head injury.
Have you lost your will to live?
Sounds like the guy is being questioned.
Covered in gore by butchery
Generally butchering is an intentional action against another thing. I don't think you could say an accident you have has butchered you.
Pressure building inside your head Compression pushing to the red Limbs are numb, control is lost Bag of blood is about to burst ... Melting braincells die away Cranium dripping, oozing grey
Otherwise, this head injury didn't break the skin, but the gray brain matter and blood are draining out into the head and rest of the body and causing it the skin to burst.
Thickening blood will now delay ... Constant flowing ecstacy
Humans are mostly made of water, thus blood is mostly made of water. As water cools down it expands and moves slower. Thus as the body cools down and dies, the blood cools as well and expands, oozing out continuously, but slower when exposed to air.
CERTAIN DEATH!
Yup, he dies.
One part that I don't really get is:
Perpetuating destiny It's in your hands to give
Perpetual destiny would be the everlasting death, but the next line confuses me. Is the "killer" talking to others and saying you can inflict human's destiny by killing them? Or is that speaking to the dying man, in which case I don't understand what it means.

Undead
Obviously about the undead zombies coming to life and feeding on the living. Yet, are these zombies really the victims of the holocaust, being brought back by incantations of devil worshippers?
Mutants of the Holocaust ... Memories of destruction Inflicted mortal wounds Mists of gaseous poison Sullen as it looms
Lyrics that made me think they're holocaust victims, being gassed and with memories of destruction.
Victims of the wicked world Pray to the evil shrine Brimstone Churches They all fall in time
I don't know...some kind of devil worshippers? Seems the world wasn't such a nice place BEFORE they did incantations to awaken the undead. Who, by the way, are immortal.
I really love the last phrase:
There is no death in dying For those who wish to die

Sadus Attack
Can't say too much about this one. The lyrics are short and to the point. Sadus craves being out on stage, playing for the crowd. And when they finally take the stage they're in control!
The final command ATTACK!

Torture
D.T.P. Death to Posers! The song is a little vague in my eyes after the first few lines, but I think I've come up with what it means to me. In general, it follows the D.T.P. saying.
There's an evil in your brain Driving you f**king insane Torture
The "evil" in your brain are the stupid little posers that infest your mind with their imitation of your beliefs. It just drives you over the edge because you're so pissed off at them for pretending to be something their not to try and be cool. You just can't get your mind off of it.
Death will come The final sign will arrive To torture your mind Anybody from deep inside
This passage loses me. Can anyone set me on track? Could be death to the poser, as perhaps he's found another trend to follow. Or possibly, he's done that one last thing (the final sign) that throws you over the edge, pisses you off, and you just knock him out.
Fight!
Knock those posers on their ass. Don't let them make a mockery of what you believe in.

And Then You Die
A song about living the "high life" and doing whatever you want, including drugs. Of course, if you choose drugs you're bound to die quickly and much sooner than you should.
Living high, no life denied A game's your life Every time is right And one of these times you're gonna die ... Your mind's lost, a senseless cause Until you get some more ... Play it straight or take a chance Well what will it be?
You have the choice on how you're going to live your life. If you want to risk it all on something that's going to make you happy for a short time, then string you along then you're bound to die sooner. It's like playing Russian Roulette, but each time you do you find yourself more excited by the chance of death and try it with more and more bullets until the next game you play marks your end.

man, Darren is going to trip out on this! i f**king love it! you started out with what i think has the weirdest lyrics out of the bunch... they were young and they were ANGRY! i'll pass on this one, as most of the lyrics I think they're kind of self explanatory, but I'll join in for SWALLOWED IN BLACK has I think it has some of the best lines EVER to be written... and I kinda know who wrote what starting from AVOM... but I don't think I want to reveal it... let's just say you have to feel it...

Thanks Max. I really appreciate you reading this. ;D I just figured I'd start at the beginning, and move my way up as I have time to throw in examining a song or two. But after Out For Blood comes in, I may just pause on wherever I am and try to figure out that stuff.

Hands of Fate
Obviously, this song is about Fate, or you could also view it as the Incarnation of Death. Basically saying that you're going to die, because it's the way of life.
The ultimate destiny Is to to rob you of your life ... I'll capture the Chosen ... No mercy, no pity For the one in my grasp Your days have been numbered This is your last
But not only that, but Fate seems to thirst for the violence of ending lives. Fate is one sick (I'm SICK!) motherf**ker!
Still hungry for violence Perpetual hunter for life
Then it goes into some gruesome details about your body decomposing and being eaten. But the odd thing is the last few lines.
Hands of fate grasp you and tighten Yet only by chance
This entire song says that it's inevitable that you'll die, but then the last line changes the whole thing and decides that perhaps you can avoid it, and that fate isn't definite...just chance. Or maybe it's saying that you'll definitely die eventually, but it's not certain of WHEN you'll get taken.

Twisted Face
Seems to me to be discussing meth users (since it mentions meth). From pictures I've seen, that stuff seriously screws up your face, transforming you into a bum of your former self. Scratched up and sores...going faster and faster, turning your brain to mush to try and exceed your last high.
Speeding faster, never Slowing You know there's no rest Feel the Rush, urgency Methamphetamine, can't be Freed
Yeah...
Your twisted Face, your burning Nose You die a f**king Disgrace
An interesting line.
Mirror skiing for the answer
I didn't understand that for a few seconds, but then I realized it was referring to cutting lines of meth on a mirror and then snorting them one after another. Kind of like skiing on a white mountain, going back and forth.

Fight or Die[/i]
A song about a guy doesn't like fighting, killing, and wars, but is drafted to go and fight in another country. He is religious, probably a pacifist, but is told that he'll either fight or die. You kill the enemy, or he'll kill you. He can't find santuary for his beliefs, and apparently dies before the end of the song.
This man has reached his End This man's war he Lost And no one's felt the Pain No mercy and no Sorrow
So, he follows his beliefs of not fighting (or cowardice) and dies in the field, though he never wanted to be there in the first place. Countries benefitting from his death, yet he gained nothing but doom.

Illusions
Wow! Trippy lyrics. I need time to think about this, but I just wanted to mention how trippy I found them to be initially. When I finish this one, I'll post another for "Chemical Exposure", so that's how you know I've finished this song (instead of checking to see if I editted this post).
The concept appears obvious enough, that the narrator is seeing Illusions. Why? I don't know. But these images screw with the person, making them untrusting of what they see and think they know. My favorite line has to be the last one:
Images betray me constantly
Because these images trick and deceive the person, he becomes reclusive and stays hidden within himself.
Forceful delusions Driving me inward to my mental sea
All the while, the person wonders what he's done to mask his reality with inserts of nonexistent images. He also starts to go insane.
What have I done to reality? Chaos strangles my sanity
Either he received a head injury, or was exposed to some hallucinagenic chemicals...which leads to the final song.

Chemical Exposure
Really, what can I say about this one? It's an instrumental and provides me with no real decisive method for interpretation. It doesn't help matters that it isn't featured on CoC, so I haven't even heard it. But based on the previous song, Illusions, as well as the title, it seems that it could be that the person has lived in an area with surrounding chemical waste and has been unwillfully exposed to the dangers of their company. The other possibility is that the person is a drug user, has been using drugs and is therefore (if it is connected to Illusions) seeing things. The dudes did say "We like the trippy stuff/...those are the kids that don't smoke enough weed."
Now, I'm no weed smoker/alcohol drinker/drug user, but I like the trippy stuff. And this could be one of those cases.
The only other clue to the title is the cover of the Chemical Exposure CD, which is a picture of the band (all black) surrounded by green. That's certainly trippy, but whether that's caused by your house being laced with Drano or you carrying a joint, I don't know.
