Amazing band, though I got burnt-out over-playing them a lot. I did however listen to ITP and TSOP back to back on Chuck's birthday.
I remember about 2 years ago I was trying to learn "The Philosopher" on my (at the time) new SX fretless bass for some school talent show. I raped that song, I literally fell asleep with it on a loop every night for about a week straight, and just in general dedicated every second of bass playing to learning that song.
In hindsight I don't play it often now, but when I do I don't really remember how it goes, I just kind-of feel the song out with the fills.

I don't listen to DEATH anymore. I want to save the music for very special occasions. I know there will be plenty of time for me to honour the music when my spirit will be ready for it. Chuck was one of a kind, never forgotten. He's partly the reason why I felt SADUS had to be more out there.
I remember seeing the ever-famous shirt he had in the back of LEPROSY and thinking, "he's doing it already, supporting them, giving them exposure.... someone should get more involved and help out somehow..."
Rest in peace brother...

Symbolic has been my first Death's album. My ex-ex-bf bought it for my 22nd b-day... but we already broke at the time... i think Well, nonetheless, i'm very grateful to him. Not only it was him opening me the doors of Heavy Metal, he also speeded up times for me to get into Death! Yuss!!!!

Man, yesterday was LONG. I, like Max, don't listen to Death too often anymore. I think his and my reasons differ, but yesterday my head was pounding and...oddly enough, with a headache I just needed something heavy and brutal. So, I stuck in "The Sound of Perserverence" and it really hit the spot.
I listen to more melodic and "weird" stuff now than I used to, but my appreciation of all that Chuck had done was really brought back listening to that. Wonderful...absolutely.

I remember cruising in the Antioch streets with Darren, cranking TRAPPED IN A CORNER to the maximum and having this weird, surreal feeling. Now that was the right occasion to hear Chuck sing again.

Yeah, Death is one of the bands that got me into extreme metal and is still one of my favourite ones (along with Sadus, Coroner and some others). The first album I heard was, a bit ironically, their last one - The Sound Of Perseverance, which contained some nice and catchy riffing and twisted drum parts. When I got some money to buy their stuff I chose cassettes with Human and Individual Thought Patterns, and then I became fully possessed! I can't refrain myself from headbanging whenever I listen to Scream Bloody Gore or Leprosy, I can't express how astonishing the stuff from Human and ITP is - it's the same thing as on Sadus records: brutality meets technical death metal and lots of creativity in composing songs. Here's also a photo of my Death collection: to sum up, Death kicks f**king ass!
