Great lyrical examination Max, NES. Weird moods is what the "Valley" is all about When I first listened to this track, I thought D/ had this song in his "black book" since 1989. . Cleveland Elementary School in Stockton, Ca is the site where one of the 1st "mass school shootings" in the country occurred. A 24 yr old wack job walked onto the campus where he had once been a student and opened fire with an assault rifle. He killed five children, wounding 29 other children, and a teacher as well. Then fast forward 10 yrs to Columbine . . . Fast forward again to the tragedy at VT last week, and "Sick" chronicles the progression of a sociopathic society that breeds, encourages, and nurtures apathy, isolation, psychosis, and violence. And always, "if it doesn't happen to me, then I'm not affected. . ." or "Out Of Site, Out Of Mind" is the growing response to tragedies like this. Sadly, there is a sense that the US Culture as a whole is becoming more dissensitized to tragedies enumerated above. In reality, we're all affected by this abhorrent, senseless act of mass murder. Why? Where could he buy the gun, the clips, the ammunition?
Thanks to the Republican controlled Congress, Senate, Judiciary, Executive Branch, the US Federal ban on the manufacture of 19 "military style" semi-automatic rifles, certain shotguns and ammunition clips "holding more than 10 rounds" was allowed expire in September, 2004.
Thanks to this "foreclosure" of political will, Seung-Hui Cho was allowed access to these previously banned semi-automatic clips and purchase them on EBay no less.
The Sadudes don't have to put a political viewpoint out there for "Sick". Look around you and the answers become self-evident.

It's nothing new we're killing each other... The holy bible is smthg men created (imo but i bet most of u agrees) and whatever u think it's pure genius (of course depends on how u read it)... i mean, the Abel-Cain thing just means human beeings have ALWAYS killed their brothers for stupid reasons... It's just that now any act like those at Columbine or in Virginia get HUGE echo in the whole world! Sometimes there are videos, so even if u werent there u can see what happened... this is really SICK!!!!!!!! Like "U werent one of the lucky survivor who wintnessed the massacre? NO PROBLEM! Here u are a video, u'll feel like u were there!" sponsored by the same guns brand that killed so many young lives.
What about the influence trends and mass media and society have on ppl that lead them to become puppets? Yeah, the American Idol made me think of this... U gotta be more popular, hotter, smarter, funnier, whatever more than anyone else... u end up believing this shit and then u act without having control on yourself... not only in these extreme cases...

yeah, control seems to be a keyword. i for myself sometimes experience strange feelings. ever happend to any of you, when driving... "what if i suddenly turn the wheel now and invade the other lane...?" we're all THIS CLOSE to insanity - ultimately, this close to total madness, and more suffering.
and i'm thinking about 9 / 11 again. it's just a coincidence that while the US government prepares to "defend the nation against terrorist attacks" we get the random killings and hurricane Katrina and the likes... and nobody gives a shit?

ultimately, the message coming from this kind of horrible things, seems almost like LOOK NO FURTHER, THE ENEMY IS WITHIN.

Ultimately, I agree...and that scares me.
I like how this album has been going! I do hope the Sadudes throw in a few more words once they return on all the songs they've missed. However, we'll certainly give them some stuff to look into by the time they get back! ;D

I'm proud to bring you an anthem...truly a new classic Sadus tune!
Down
Can't bring me down You can't kill me Can't sell me out Going to help myself now You can't fill me with what you want me to be No one will make me You can't change me I am my own man So fall by the hand of me No mercy from me Can't bring me down...so cold
Gone in your wasted mind Won't let you by So don't even try I'm done... No more thoughts of you I'm through with you I curse you dead Throw the hammer down I wear the crown I'm down... Burn in f**king hell Better hear what I say Get out of my way I'm wild in my f**king ways So cold...
You show to all your wickedness Pray for the life you'll miss A flash of white is what you get

One thing I like in particular about this song is actually something I just realized. The lines: Better hear what I say ... I'm wild in my f**king waysNow, the interesting part is that it is rather hard to hear the second line, which is shortly after the first one! I hadn't read the lyrics to this one from the booklet, but I had seen that second line on here under Darren's username. I didn't even know which song it was from. You (or at least I) have to listen carefully when that one comes about, because there's so much stuff going on over it that it becomes just a mixture of noise. But if you focus in to hear that line, the mixture gives off this weird rhythmic vibe in how Darren sings that line. Quite cool, I must say. I'll analyze this later, but I just wanted to point out that point.

Was on my way up to Sacramento on Thursday morning and had the volume maxxed playing O4B. It just so happened "DOWN" was playing as I watched this guy fly by @ 90MPH. I then glance in my rearview and noticed the CHP in the far right lane, who closed in to pounce. Gotcha!
Funny thing, I was screamin(literally . .) along to "NO MORE" just 5 minutes before this went down and was speeding at unsafe amount of speed };] in keeping up with the Sadudes! Thanks guys! Made my f**king day after my crazy Wednesday Night

Reading the lyrics to this song, I really see it as a stab at record labels. Those managers or talent-spotters that come up and go "You know, you've got a really great sound! But...you guys could get big if you just did this..."
But if you have integrity, and believe in yourself and your music, you can just kick that guy aside! You may not get their support, but when you manage to work your way up the ladder from grass-roots growth and this record label sees the cult support you've garnered...they're going to come back. And then, that's when you turn to them and say, "I've seen you, and you're one ugly motherf**ker! Just get the hell away from me."
Make yourself, don't let others make you.

"Down" is a SADUS classic. No doubt about it. The intensity, the hook, the anger incarnate blasts from D/'s vox & guitar; SDG's elemental "low end" is on pulse with Jon's percussive brutality }:] When I first heard this track, I thought f**kin Aye---This is gonna get heard everywhere!! And to your point NES, it feels like the Sadudes are taking the "Music Biz" to the mat on this one. For many of us who are into the comic book genre, this reads like something right outta "SPAWN" Or, in some segments of this track, it reminds me of the kind of betrayal that ends a relationship . . . "So Cold . . . . "
Heh, heh I know we've all screamed along to this passage!!
Burn in f**king hell Better hear what I say Get out of my way I'm wild in my f**king ways
For me, "Down" hits the very tenets we all aspire to; Take a stand. Fight for the ideals we hold true. And broadcast the following: If you want to be my enemy, just know I reserve the right for retribution };]
O4B just confirms my thought that the Sadudes have much, much more in store!!!

I'm surprised more people didn't hop onto "Down"! Regardless, it's been over a week, so I shall move on...
One of my favorite songs off O4B. I think it's great that they cemented it as a tribute to Chuck S. I can only listen to Chuck's stuff every so often anymore because it's just...well, it's painful at times. But I always respect the man, for his contributions and the kind of person he was. To have the Sadudes, his friends, recognize him is a great thing.
I'm feeling a need to put in "The Fragile Art of Existence" soon...seems like the right time.
Freedom
So you think That we're all crazy Can't you see That I'm already there What you need Can't do without it Can't you see That I don't even care I'm on the edge
Pound it out Twice as loud I crave the sound - in darkness no weakness Flying free At full speed It's what I need - ears will bleed, what we need Work and feed Off of me Adrenalin - arise above, arise above It's what we like It's in our blood - in the blood, in the blood
Freedom for you Freddom from pain Freedom from all Freedom from this life
Where are you Here I am Hidden deep Out of site and mind Time flies by And I'm alive Alive inside Inside of all of you Inside of you
I've paved the way For all to see It's all for you - all for you, bleed for you And now I'm lost And time won't stop Now that I'm through - so through, so through What you need Ears will bleed I'll bleed for you - bleed or you, all for you Don't leave me I can't see you - where are you, where are you
Freedom for you Freedom from pain Freedom from all Freedom from this life
So the twisted one is me Sad, so bad, sad Don't make me laugh Free from all that is me Sad, too bad, sad Freedom
Highs and lows Effect us all And crush one's soul Time and time again Feel the need Arise above the pain you feel Inside us all And take control
I've paved the way For all to see It's all for you - all for you, all for you And now I'm lost And time won't stop No day of rest No time to guess Arise above - arise above, arise above Flying free at full speed It's what I love - it's what I need, that's why I bleed
Freedom for you Freedom from pain Freedom from all
